About Anthony
Background & approach
Anthony Criscuolo, D.C. is the owner of Active Release TX and a Doctor of Chiropractic with more than four decades in practice. A graduate of Seton Hall University and New York Chiropractic College, he holds Diplomate status with the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP) — an advanced board certification in sports chiropractic held by fewer than 500 doctors in the country.
Diplomate status is not easily earned. It requires 360 hours of classroom and workshop training, 100 hours on the field at sporting events, passing grades on three examinations — two written and one practical — and acceptance of a paper for publication in a peer-reviewed journal or text. Beyond that, Dr. Criscuolo has completed more than 150 hours of coursework in spinal and extremity rehabilitation, along with additional postgraduate training in radiology, orthopedics, risk management, and chiropractic technique.
Dr. Criscuolo first met Dr. P. Michael Leahy — the developer of Active Release Techniques® — in 1991, when he was treated for a chronic shoulder problem that other approaches had failed to resolve. The results were so striking that he set out to learn everything he could about Dr. Leahy's new soft-tissue protocols. It was at Dr. Criscuolo's urging that Dr. Leahy began teaching ART®, and Dr. Criscuolo became one of the first instructors to help teach the method to other providers.
Today, Dr. Criscuolo brings 41 years of chiropractic experience and 33 years as a postgraduate ART® instructor to every patient he sees at Active Release TX in Heath, Texas.
